Wounded Spirits Retreat at the Edge Christian Camp
If your desire is to help others heal from a traumatic event or to begin healing from such a circumstance yourself, this retreat is for you, whether you are a veteran, first responder, victim of abuse, or someone willing to help these men and women heal. This is a great opportunity for both individuals and churches wishing to help those with PTSD. Currently, more than 40 support groups meet in churches across America. The average group will grow a local church membership by 20.
Camp will begin on March 16th with a dinner and end on March 20th after breakfast. The Edge Christian Camp is a beautiful piece of property along the James River with a nice motel-type environment (please reference the map below). The rooms are modern and updated, and delicious meals for the week are included in the cost. Attire for the retreat’s classes and graduation is business casual, and casual for all other activities. The camp has plenty to offer, and several hours of R&R are set aside each day to unwind and get to know your fellow attendees better.
This retreat will cover a wide range of subjects, including but not limited to: suicide, guilt, depression, rape, anger, flashbacks, and pornography. For some topics, the sessions will split into male and female groups. Classes will be taught from the best selling book Wounded Spirits: A Biblical Approach to PTSD, which will be available for purchase at camp for $10.00. All of the instructors are certified Wounded Spirits counselors, most of whom have battled with PTSD themselves. As a group, they have helped countless individuals find a road to recovery through their personal experience, genuine love, and a good sense of humor. Please note that the privacy of all of our attendees is of the upmost importance to us. What is said at camp, stays at camp.
