Beliefs

Our Doctrinal Positions

A.   THE HOLY SCRIPTURES

We believe that the Holy Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God. We believe the writings of the Old and New Testaments are fully God-breathed, insomuch that God chose the very words from the human writers’ vocabulary, so that the Scriptures are the very Word of God, inerrant in all their assertions and teachings. The Bible is therefore the only infallible authority for both doctrine and life. Since this is true, it stands as the special revelation of God to man, and the only foundation for true Christian unity. The King James Version of the Bible is the official translation used for preaching and teaching in the English-speaking world. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:19–21; Matthew 5:18; Hebrews 4:12; Acts 1:16; Mark 12:36; John 10:35; 16:12, 13; 17:17)

B.   THE NATURE OF GOD

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4-6.

C.  WHO JESUS CHRIST IS

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-4 and 1:29; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15.

D.  THE SINFULNESS OF MAN

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin, the human race fell, inherited a sin nature, and became alienated from God. Thus, we believe that all men everywhere are lost and face the judgment of God, that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation, and that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ results in regeneration by the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, we believe that God will reward the righteous with eternal life in heaven, and that He will banish the unrighteous to everlasting punishment in hell.
(Gen 1:26-27; Rom 5:12; Rom 3:22-23; Romans 6:23; Eph 2:8-9)

E.   MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life.
John 3:5-8; Acts 1:8 and 4:31; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Galatians 5:16-18; Ephesians 6:12; Colossians 2:6-10.

F.   RESURRECTION AND ETERNAL LIFE

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment.
1 Corinthians 15:51-57; Revelation 20:11-15.

G.  THE CHURCH

We believe that the local church is a proper assembly of baptized believers, gathered around the Scriptures to worship and sent forth to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of His body.
1 Corinthians 12:12, 27; Ephesians 1:22-23.

H.  OUR PURPOSE

We believe that the ministry of evangelism (sharing and proclaiming the message of salvation only possible by grace through faith in Jesus Christ) and discipleship (helping followers of Christ grow up into maturity in Christ) is a responsibility of all followers of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:9-15; 1 Peter 3:15.

I.     OUR CALLING

We believe that we must dedicate ourselves to prayer, to the service of our Lord, to His authority over our lives, and to the ministry of evangelism.
Matthew 9:35-38; 22:37-39, and 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:9-10 and 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10; Colossians 2:6-10; 1 Peter 3:15.

J.    MARRIAGE & THE FAMILY

We believe God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of marriage, that God created man and woman as unique biological persons made to complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, we believe that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female.
Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9.

K.   SANCTITY OF LIFE

We believe that human life is sacred from conception to its natural end; and that we must have concern for the physical and spiritual needs of our fellow men.
Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 22:37-39; Romans 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10.

L.   MANNERS AND APPEARANCE

We believe that the character, conduct, conversation, actions, and appearance of our missionary family are to be above reproach and blameless. In all manner of life and service, our purpose is to glorify God.

1 Corinthians 6:19–20; Romans 12:1–2

M. LAWSUITS BETWEEN BELIEVERS

We believe that Christians are forbidden to bring civil lawsuits one against another before the unbelieving. We believe that the church, under Christ her Head, possesses all that is needful to resolve personal disputes between brethren. Yet we believe that a Christian may lawfully seek compensation for injuries through another Christian’s insurance, so long as the claim be pursued without malice, strife, or slander.

1 Corinthians 6:1–8; Ephesians 4:31–32

N.  THE AUTHORITY OF STATEMENT OF FAITH

This Statement of Faith doth not exhaust the whole of our belief, for the Holy Scriptures are the sole and final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Nevertheless, we believe that the foregoing Statement of Faith truly sets forth the teaching of the Word of God and is therefore binding upon all our missionaries. Furthermore, all literature employed in our ministry shall be in full agreement with this Statement of Faith.

2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 119:160; Jude 3; Galatians 1:8; Acts 2:42; 2 Thessalonians 2:15
